The Times They Are a-Changin’

Dear Friends,

Earlier this year I made the exciting decision to begin my transition from DCAYA. It has been an incredible 9 years.

We’ve accomplished things I could not have imagined at the start of this journey.

We accomplished them because we were clear in our values and beliefs. Because hundreds of people from all over DC, devoted thousands of hours to improve the systems and services our young people need to thrive. And, because above all, we put our children and youth first. Collective impact isn’t easy, but I have to say guys, we’re kind of nailing it…Thank you for being a part of this amazing community of youth champions.

We have a solid foundation to build on.

We have an incredible staff. Ramina Davidson, our Director of Housing Stability and Youth Initiatives and Mariah Green, our Director of Youth Programming, know our community, understand the issues, and are brilliant problem solvers. Their leadership is central to what makes DCAYA so effective. I know the work will continue to be exceptional with them on the team.

We also have a fully engaged, supportive, and strategic board of directors. Their commitment to youth and smart systems change with and for young people is unwavering. Their leadership, support and hard work has enabled a scrappy little organization to flourish, grow and evolve.

DCAYA is prepared to take the next big leap; and deliver even deeper results for our young people. I can’t wait to see what DCAYA accomplishes next, and I’m excited to see the organization get to the next level of impact.

How you can help.

Help us find the next great leader!

Do you know a dynamic leader who’s hungry to do incredible things with, and for DC youth? Share the position description with your networks and colleagues!

Position Announcement

Celebrate the transition!

Save the date! September 26th we’ll be hosting a reception (reunion? A blessing of unicorns?) to celebrate this exciting next step! Not around? Let’s grab coffee. It’s folks like you that have made the job so rewarding and I’d welcome the chance to say thank you in person!

Show your support for youth voice!

We’ve got a donor prepared to match up to $10,000 to support youth voice and youth leadership in 2020. We have until September 30th. If everyone in our network gave just $10, we could easily meet that challenge. Or, if you’re a member organization, renew your member dues! Both count! #MakeTheMatch #$10for$20!

Well, I think that’s it for now. I’m here until October 1st, and I hope to see all of you before I head out of town! And, as always, please don’t hesitate to reach out about the transition (or really anything).

Best,
M
