Director of Youth Programs

Mariah, is our first Director of Youth Programs.

Her commitment to foster a youth friendly city is rooted in her experiences growing up as a young person in DC and being aware of the unmet needs of low-income youth. As the Director of Youth Programs, Mariah will work directly with young people across the city to ensure that their voices are amplified, by leading the Youth Mayoral Leadership Team for the upcoming Youth Mayoral Forum, a joint effort developed by DCAYA, Mikva DC and Critical Exposure.

Prior to joining our team, Mariah has worked with youth serving organizations in DC and Philadelphia. As a Summer Program Coordinator at Urban Alliance, Mariah supervised a program model that provides paid internships and professional development workshops to college students. During her undergraduate studies at Temple University, Mariah worked at Youth Empowerment Services Philly (YESPhilly), an alternative high school to co-create workforce development strategies and a college access program for students ranging ages 16 to 22.

In addition to DCAYA, Mariah served as an Achievement Coach for Higher Achievement’s out of school time program and former  Vice Board Chair of DC Leaders Empowering Visionary Educational Excellence (DC LEVEE). DC LEVEE encourages students to realize their ability to engage in civic and community-based initiatives. Students are at the forefront of the program, leading the fundraising, education and community-building efforts.
